FAQ

Do you have two sites in Madison Lake?

Yes! We now have a new North location at 23055 615th Lane, located by the Madison Lake water tower. Our original South site is located near Hwy 60, at 100 Madison Lake Street. The North location has evergreen colored doors, and the South location has blue doors. Both locations are blacktopped, but the North location has a short stretch of gravel road on 615th Lane. However, there are many large units at the new North location that are great for boaters!

When is rent due?

Let's keep that simple! Rent is always due on the first day of the month. This is the case no matter what day of the month you move in initially. The first month will be pro-rated, and from that point on rent is due the 1st. Easy peezy.

Do you require a security deposit?

Yes. Upon moving out, if the unit you rented is cleaned out and no damage was done to the unit, your security deposit will be mailed to you. Chad likes to see just how fast he can get them in the mail to you.

Is there pro-rated rent?

We pro-rate your entrance month, but not the exit month.

What are your prices?

See prices here. We aim to have the most competitive prices around! If you are serious about storing your belongings, it should be at Chad's Storage where you will get an awesome, clean, secure unit... at the BEST price!

What are my payment options?

You may pay by cash, check, credit card or checking account. You can pay online, on-site, or by mail. We don't want to make it difficult for you to pay your rent, so we offer as many ways to pay as we can think of. See details here.

Do you offer any specials?

From time to time we offer great discounts. We currently offer a special if you pre-pay for 5 monhts, you get 1 month for FREE.

Do I have to give notice that I will be moving out?

Nah, we don't want to complicate your life or get in the way of your plans. We appreciate a move out notice, though it is not required. We do require notification when you have completely moved out, in order to evaluate the condition and potential security deposit refund.

What are your hours of operation and access?

Units are accessible to customers 24/7. Management may or may not be on site when you visit. If you need a manager present, be sure to call ahead and schedule an appointment. Chad loves meeting with tenants!

What size storage units do you have?

See storage unit dimensions and square footage here. Uf da, that's a lot of sizes!

How do I know which size I need?

See size details here. Aren't those little diagrams the coolest? We hope you find them helpful.

Do you supply a lock and key(s)?

For sure! We supply a cylinder lock and up to two keys, which is all you need to keep your door securely locked. You may also add your own padlock if you want.

What type of security does Chad's Storage have?

We have exterior lights on each building. Each unit has a secure cylinder lock. Chad is there a lot too, and he usually has some kind of broom or snow shovel in hand.

Do you insure my stuff, or do I need my own insurance?

Our insurance covers only our building structure, and does not cover loss or damage to the items stored in your unit. Please check with your own homeowners or renters insurance company to determine if your belongings are covered.

What items and uses are strictly prohibited?

The storage of the following items is prohibited:

  • Food
  • Welding, flammable, explosive or other inherantly dangerous material
  • Hazardous substances or any highly corrosive, toxic, or pollutant type materials
  • Items that violate building or zoning laws, ordinances, or state and federal regulations
  • You may not live in a storage unit or run a business out of a unit. However, we are happy to work with folks on garage sales from time to time.

Can I store a vehicle inside a unit?

Yes! Boats, trailers, cars, snowmobiles and other vehicles may be stored inside units that are large enough to hold them. We extend a warm welcome to cabin-goers, boaters, and snowmobilers in the area! Chad's 12x30's are happiest when they are filled with your cars and boats! (Well... if storage units had feelings.)

Do you provide any type of pest control?

No. We do not have any expert advice on what type of pest control you should use, if any, other than a couple of very simple tips. 1). For whatever reason, it seems that Bounce dryer sheets help keep mice away. And 2). Remember that poison presents as food to animals-- they will seek it out if you put it in your unit, and will most likely die inside your unit, which is not always the best scenario.

Should I cover the floor of the unit with anything?

We appreciate it when you put your lawnmowers or other items that could leak oil or gasoline, on a cloth. Cloth is better than plastic because it breathes better.

Is there electricity in the storage units?

Each building has exterior lights, but the units do not have electricty.
